LHK9 LUCKY 13 #49: WELCOME, WONTON

PUPDATE: It was undeniably time to set Wonton free and let him cross the rainbow bridge.  He celebrated his 13th birthday with ice cream, a cheeseburger, and a day in the mountains.  It was very, very difficult to let this spicy Wonton go.  This little Chihuahua came to us elderly with a broken body.  He had a pack that loved him, good food, comfort, and we will always hold him close to our hearts.

PUPDATE: Wonton will stay with our pack.  He is taking his meds, eating a good diet, sleeping on a heating pad, and he loves his pack.  I don’t know how many months or years we have with Wonton, but I hope these are the best years of his life.

Fab 5: Liam, Phinn, Kei, Vader, and Wonton. All of these dogs are rescues.

Little Heart K9 pulled Wonton (FKA: Jinx) from PACC (Pima Animal Care Center, Tucson, AZ).  Wonton is a 12 year old, male, Chihuahua, listed as an owner surrender.  Wonton is Valley Fever positive, lame, and will likely stay with us for the rest of his life.

Wonton’s Valley Fever was left untreated for a long time, as evidenced by his high Valley Fever titer and his x-rays (posted below).  We’ll see our veterinarian and make sure we’re keeping him as comfortable as possible.

Thank you, from Wonton, Laura, and the pack at Little Heart K9.

Welcome, Wonton. He’s fragile, handle with care.

The results of disseminated Valley Fever, spread throughout his body to his bones and joints.

In addition to lameness in the front, his rear hips are in bad shape, too.

Proof that a German Shepherd person can fall in love with a Chihuahua.

We also call him Spicy Wonton, when he’s cranky, which is often.

Thank you to Dr. Horton for helping care for Wonton’s quality of life.

Wonton loves being a part of our pack, and the big dogs let him boss them around.

Time in the sunshine.

Wonton and his friends.
